Bush signed off the USA PATRIOT Act, effectively providing federal regulators with a new range of tools and powers for fighting terror financing and money laundering. During July 2002, the US Treasury proceeded to introduce Section 326 of the PATRIOT Act, a clause that removed some key burdens for regulators and added significant enforcement muscle to the Act.What 9/11 changed, in essence, was the extent to which existing legislation was being implemented. Significantly, it is this anti-terror law that would make the creation of an Anti Money Laundering (AML) programme compulsory for all financial institutions and service providers.Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT Act dealt specifically with the identification of new customers (“CIP regulation”), and made extensive provisions in terms of KYC and the methods employed to verify client identities.In accordance with this piece of updated KYC legislation, federal regulators would hold financial institutions accountable for the effectiveness of their initial customer identification and ongoing KYC screening. Institutions are required to keep detailed records of the steps that were taken to verify prospective clients’ identities.Although current KYC legislation does not yet demand the exclusion of specific types of foreign-issued identification, it recommends the usage of machine-verifiable identity documents. But is an RTOS always necessary? The answer is application-specific, so understanding what one will deliver is key to determining whether it becomes a requirement or an extravagance.
In general, an RTOS can be used anywhere a non-RTOS is employed. However, it’s rare to find an operating system with a matching RTOS that has exactly the same application programming interface (API). Many of them, though, embed an RTOS within a conventional operating system. For example, Lynux- Works LynxOS and Bluecat Linux share a Linux API. LynxOS is a hard RTOS, while Bluecat inherits its base from Linux.
Linux continues to improve its real-time performance, but its worst-case interrupt latency still doesn’t meet what would be considered hard real time for an RTOS. It all comes down to quality of service (QoS). Platforms like RTLinux Free augment Linux, providing hard real-time class QoS.
It’s important to note that this type of addition often incorporates an RTOS programming environment that’s distinct from the original operating system. An RTOS is typically small compared to a conventional desktop or server OS. They often target more smaller, resource-constrained microcontrollers. For instance, CMX’s CMX-RTX and CMX-Tiny+ can run on 8-bit MCUs up through 64-bit processors.
The increased power and memory capacity of 8-bit processors is making an RTOS more desirable for these platforms. But, an OS or RTOS is usually a requirement in 16-bit platforms and up with RTOS products like Express Logic’s ThreadX, Wind River’s VxWorks, Micrium’s uCOS-II, and Green Hills Software’s velOSity being common selections. Depending on requirements, MontaVista’s Linux meets 16- and 32-bit platform requirements in the low microsecond range.
THE RTOS CORE: SCHEDULING AND PARTITIONINGMost programmers aren’t familiar with RTOS constraints and requirements. Most usually opt for an RTOS due to its performance. Most RTOS products are small and fast, yet an RTOS also adds consistency. Beyond the fact that an RTOS gets the job done quickly, it can guarantee a job will get done.
In many applications, a late result can be catastrophic. Thus, a poor result within the proper timeframe is preferable. These applications are generally called hard real-time systems. Hard real time doesn’t indicate how fast the system may be or how quickly a system may respond. Rather, it refers to how reliably a system can meet the specified requirements.
A hard real-time system may have a fixed cycle time of one minute with a response time of one second. In theory, it’s something almost any operating system could handle. This isn’t always the case, though, as anyone can attest to when waiting for a desktop application to respond within a minute.
Hard real-time systems typically have shorter cycle times and tighter response requirements. Faster processors always help, and multicore platforms can improve response time, too. The trick for developers is to match system requirements to the hardware and software, hence the importance of an RTOS in embedded applications.
An RTOS can implement a range of scheduling policies, and the application will often restrict a programmer’s choices (see the table). Non-preemptive scheduling is trivial to implement but useful in some applications. On the other hand, non-preemptive scheduling within a task can be implemented on top of a preemptive system.
Non-preemptive should not be overlooked, especially in light of new multicore processors. Here, hardware may be tuned to handle an event-based operation in which a thread will wait for an external event to occur. This approach is usually unsuitable for a single-core processor handling multiple threads. On multicore systems with many cores, though, it’s often typical to dedicate one core to handle one peripheral. It then makes sense to have that core idle while waiting for an event to occur.
As a result, preemptive, interrupt-driven RTOS architectures make up the majority of platforms deployed. These platforms have a range of requirements, issues, and solutions (see the figure). Interrupt latency is always an issue, although hardware— multiple register sets, hardware scheduling and task switching, and hierarchical priority interrupt systems—can significantly reduce this overhead.
Several issues coincide with preemption. Most are timing-related, like race conditions, deadlock, starvation, and priority inversion, which occurs when a low-priority task A owns a synchronization resource of a higher-priority task B, and a task C with priority higher than A is running.
Without a feature like priority ceilings, task C can prevent task A and C from running. A priority-ceiling feature changes the priority of task A to that of task C, allowing it to run and eventually release the resource needed by C. At this point, task A’s priority returns to normal and task C can run.
The other timing-related issues, which the programmer must address, are often the sources of bugs that are difficult to locate and correct. Trace tools become valuable assets in locating these kinds of bugs, since symptoms such as blocked tasks are the only indication of the problem

Yılın her günü Dünyanın çeşitli ülkelerinden gelen ziyaretçilerle dolup taşan Mevlana Müzesi Konya'nın olduğu kadar Türkiye'nin en çok turist çeken ziyaret yerlerinin başında geliyor. Her ayın ilk Pazartesi günü TC vatandaşı ziyaretçiler müzeye ücretsiz giriş yaparken, diğer günler için 5 YTL lik bilet alınıyor. Yine her ayın son Perşembe günü Belediye'nin girişimiyle organize edilen ücretsiz sema gösterisi izlenebiliyor.Çiçeklerle bezeli park içinden geçip Mevlana Müzesine turnikelerden giriş yapan ziyaretçiler ilk olarak çeşmeli küçük bir havuzla karşılaşıyorlar. Burada ki çeşmeden su dolduranların yanı sıra, süs havuzuna para atıp dilekte bulunanlara sıkça rastlanıyor. Sağ bölümde Matbah (mutfak) cansız mankenlerle hazırlanmış kompozisyonlar mutfak araç, gereçleri yer alıyor. Mevlana Müzesi ziyareti için kapıda verilen galoşları ayaklarına takan ziyaretçiler müzede sergilenen eserleri görmeye başlıyor, fotoğraflarını çekiyor, üstü sandukalarla örtülü ve Hz Mevlana ve ailesinden gelenlere dua ediyorlar. Büyük bölümü cam dolaplarda teşhir edilen müze parçaları arasında Mevlana'ya ait cübbe, entari, şeffaf kandil, pamuklu hırkalar, Şemsettin Tebriziye izafe edilen serpuş görülüyor. Müze salonunun camlı bir başka bölümünde Âlem, Destegül (cepken), Sultan Velede ait atlas cübbe, Mesnevi sergileniyor. Müzenin çalgılar bölümünde fildişi sedef işlemeli ud, çeşitli neyler, tambur, kemençe, kudüm, halite (çal para) yer alıyor. Sikke ve arakıye, omuzluk ve cübbe, Divanlı Kebir'i gören ziyaretçiler, bu defa antika halıların sergilendiği camsız bölüm önünde her biri 990 adet olup, birisi Ulu Arif Çelebiye ait iri taneli zikir tespihlerini izliyorlar. Küre-i sema, körük, kuran rahlesi, su tasları, şamdan, tunç şamdan, çorba taslarının bulunduğu ve dört bir yanından görülen camlı vitrinlerin bulunduğu bölümden birkaç basamakla son çıkış salonuna geçiliyor. Bu bölümün ortasında sakalı şerif yer alıyor. Çevrede ki teşhir vitrinlerinde buhurdanlık, akik taşı, saat, anahtar ve kese, mum makasları bulunuyor. Teshipli ve gümüş kutu içinde Kuran, Kuran Meryem Suresi, Kur'an Koran, Ahmet bin Abdullah'ın yazısıyla Osmanlı 856 H - 1452 M Kuran, Mesnevi Şerhi, Tefsirli, İbn-i Abbas şiir mecmuası, Kuran Mesnevi diğer müze parçalarında olduğu gibi hayranlıkla izleniyor. Müzenin dergâh olarak kullanıldığı dönemlerde Mevlana'nın vefatının yıl dönemleri törenleri burada yapıldığı için, ismine Şeb-i Aruz Havuzu denilmiştir.Şadırvan1512 yılında Osmanlı Padişahı Yavuz Sultan Selim tarafından yaptırılmıştır.Derviş HücreleriMüzenin batı ve kuzey yönünde yer alan ve dervişlerin ikameti için yaptırılmış hücrelerdir.Müze bahçesinin arka kısmında Konya ve Mevlana simgeleri taşıyan hediyelik anı eşyaları, semazen bibloları, Mevlana işli dokumalar, gravür, resim gibi hediyelik satış dükkânı yer alıyor.

Artemis Tapınağı:Efes'de Artemis TapınağıArtemis Tapınağı'nın temelleri milattan önce 7. yüzyıla kadar gitmektedir. Tanrıça Artemis 'e ithafen yapılmıştır. Tamamiyle mermerden oluşuyordu. Lidya kralı Croesus tarafından yaptırılan yapı, Yunan mimar Chersiphron tarafından tasarlanmıştı ve dönemin en büyük heykeltıraşları Pheidias, Polycleitus, Kresilas ve Phradmon tarafından yapılmış olan bronz heykellerle süslenmişti. Tapınak hem bir pazaryeri, hem de bir dini müessese olarak kullanılıyordu. Artemis Tapınağı M.Ö. 21 Temmuz 356 'da adını ölümsüzleştirmek isteyen Herostratus adlı bir Yunanlı tarafından yakıldı. Aynı gece Büyük İskender doğmuştur. Büyük İskender Anadolu’yu fethettiğinde Artemis Tapınağı’nın yeniden yapılması için yardım teklif etmiş fakat reddedilmiştir.

Zeus Heykeli: Olimpia'daki Zeus HeykeliZeus Heykeli M.Ö. 450 yıllarında, adına olimpiyat oyunları düzenlenen Tanrıların kralı Zeus için, Olimpiyatlar'a ismini veren Olimpia'da yapılmıştır. Zeus Heykeli, bir tahta iskelet üzerine altın, fildişi ve metal parçalar yerleştirilerek Partenon'un içinde yapılmıştır. Heykelin oturduğu taban 6,5 m. genişliğinde ve 1 m. yüksekliğinde, heykelin kendisi ise 13 m. yüksekliğindeydi. Olimpiyat oyunları 391 yılında Theodosius I tarafından putperestlik olarak değerlendirilip sona erdirilince, Zeus Tapınağı da kapatıldı. Heykel, zengin Yunanlılar tarafından Constantinople’ye taşınmıştı ve 462 yılındaki büyük yangında yok olana dek orada kaldı. Bugün temelleri, birkaç yıkılmış kolon ve enkaz tüm kalıntılarıdır.

Babil'in Asma Bahçeleri: Milattan önce 7. yüzyılda Babil kralı Nebukadnezar tarafından yaptırılmıştır. Babil'in çorak Mezopotamya çölünün ortasında, ağaçlar, akan sular ve egzotik bitkilerin bulunduğu çok katlı bir bahçedir. Coğrafyacı Strabo'nun 1. yüzyıldaki tanımına göre:"Bahçeler birbiri üzerinde yükselen kübik direklerden oluşuyordu. Bunların içleri çukurdu ve büyük bitkilerin ve ağaçların yetişebilmesi için toprakla doldurulmuştu. Kubbeler, sütunlar ve taraçalar pişmiş tuğla ve asfalttan yapılmıştı. Yüksekteki bahçeleri sulamak için Fırat Nehri'nden zincir pompalarla su yukarılara çıkarılıyordu. Bu şekilde üst seviyelere taşınan su, bahçeleri sulayarak teraslardan aşağıya doğru akıyordu"Söylentiye göre Nebukadnezar bu yapıyı sıla hasreti çeken karısı Semiramis için yaptırmıştır. Semiramis Medes kralının kızıdır. Söylentiye göre Mezopotamyanın düz ve sıcak ortamı onu bunalıma itmiş, kral da karısının hasretini sona erdirmek için yapay dağların olduğu, suların aktığı yemyeşil bir bahçe yaptırmıştır. Bu yüzden bazen Semiramis'in asma bahçeleri olarak da anılır.Babil'in asma bahçelerinin günümüze gelen kesin izleri yoktur. Fakat, bölgede araştırma yapan arkeologlar, Babil'deki sarayın kuzeydoğusunda görünüşü garip olan temel ve tonozlar buldular. Bunların Babil'in Asma Bahçelerine ait olduğu düşünülmektedir. Babil'in Asma Bahçeleri, klasik yazarlar tarafından ayrıntılı bir şekilde tanımlanmıştır. Günümüzde bu tanımlara göre çizilen resimler bulunmaktadır. Küçükken sandığımız gibi bu efsanevi bahçeler bir yerlere asılı fidan değildir, sadece sütunlarla desteklenen taraçalar üzerinde kurulmuştur.

Keops Piramidi: Kantur piramitleri 'nin üçü birden dünyanın yedi harikası listesine dahil değildir. Piramitlerden sadece Keops Piramidi bu listeye girmiştir. Keops Piramidi, 4. Hanedanlık zamanında M.Ö. 2560 yılında Firavun Khufu (Keops) tarafından yaptırıldı. Yapımının 20 yılı aştığı sanılmaktadır. Piramit yapıldığında 145,75 m. yüksekliğindeydi. Yapıldığından itibaren 43 yüzyıl boyunca dünyadaki en yüksek yapı olarak kayıtlara geçmiştir. Keops Piramidi ilk inşa edilen olmasına rağmen dünyanın yedi harikası arasında günümüzde ayakta duran tek yapıdır. Ayrica su anda Keops Piramidi'ndnde buyyuk bir piramit bulundu. Ancak toprakgin altindadir.(uydudan bulunmustur.)

Halikarnas Mozolesi: Halikarnas Mozolesi, Kral Mausollos için karısı ve kız kardeşi tarafından yaptırılmış bir mezar. Bodrum civarında yapılmış ve yapımı M.Ö. 350 yılında tamamlanmış. Tabanın üstünde kenarları heykellerle süslenmiş basamaklı bir podyum bulunuyordu. Süslü su mermerinden yapılmış lahit ve mezar odası, podyumun üstünde bulunuyordu ve İyonya tarzı kolonlarla çevrilmişti. Sıra sütunlar, yine heykellerle süslenmiş bir piramit çatıyı destekliyordu. Dört tane savaş arabasıyla çekilen bir savaş arabası heykeli ise piramidin tavanını donatıyordu. Halikarnas Mozolesi'nin toplam yüksekliği 45 m. idi ve 4 tarafındaki 4 heykelin her birini ayrı bir heykeltıraş yapmıştı. Bu heykeller, tanrıların değil de insanlar ve hayvanların heykelleri olmasından dolayı tarihte özel birer yer tutarlar. 16 yüzyıl boyunca Halikarnas Mozolesi iyi bir durumda korundu. 15.yy da Haçlı Seferleri sırasında St.John şövalyeleri bölgeye geldiler ve bugün Bodrum Kalesi olarak geçen büyük bir kale yaptılar. Bu kalenin yapımında Halikarnas Mozolesi'nin nerdeyse bütün taşları kullanıldı.

İskenderiye Feneri: Tehlikeli kıyı şeridi boyunca gemicileri yönlendirmek amacı ile Mısır'ın İskenderiye kenti kıyısındaki Faros (Pharos) adasında yapılmıştır.Proje Büyük İskender'in komutanları Ptolemy Soter zamanında M.Ö 290 yılları sonunda başlamış, ölümünden sonra oğlunun hükümdarlığı zamanında bitirilmiştir. Şehrin batı limanında bulunan fener yaklaşık 166 m. yüksekliğindedir. Sadece harikaların değil bugüne kadar yapılmış fenerlerin de en yükseğidir. Gemicilik için güvenli bir ortam sağlamak isteyen Yunanlı tüccar Sostratus tarafından finanse edilmiştir. Fener’in en gizemli yanı, gündüzleri bile güneş ışığını denize yansıtmak amacı ile tasarlanmış cilalı bronz aynalarıydı. Geceleri ise aynaların önünde ateşler yakılıyor, böylece aynanın yansıttığı ışık gece yaklaşık 50 km. mesafeden görülebiliyordu. Yapı bir dizi depreme kadar bozulmadan kaldı. Fakat depremler ve doğal şartlar sonunda çöktü. Üst kısmı 955 yılında bir deprem ve fırtınada kopan fenerin gövde kısmı da 1302'de başka bir depremde çöktü. En sonunda 1480 yılında Memlük Sultanı Kait-bay tarafından fenerin olduğu yere yapılan bir kalede malzemeleri kullanılmak üzere tamamen yıkıldı.

Rodos Heykeli: 32 metre yüksekliğinde, demir ve taşla desteklenmiş bronzdan yapılmış bir heykeldir. Rodoslular tarafından Güneş Tanrısı [Helios]'a ithafen yapılmıştır. Yapılışından yok oluşuna kadar yalnızca 56 yıl geçmesine rağmen, Rodos Heykeli dünyanın yedi harikasından biri olmayı başarmıştır. Bunun en büyük sebebi, devasa bir heykel olmasının yanısıra Rodos adasındaki insanlar için beraberliğin simgesi olması idi. Rodos Heykeli’nin yapılması tam 12 yıl sürmüş ve heykel M.Ö. 282 yılında bitirilmiştir. Liman girişinde bulunan heykel M.Ö.226 yılında bir deprem sonucunda en zayıf noktası olan dizinden kırıldı. Rodoslular, Firavun Ptolemy III Eurgetes’den restorasyon için yardım teklifi aldılarsa da, bir kâhine başvuruldu ve yardım reddedildi. Neredeyse 900 yıl boyunca heykel harabe halinde kaldı. 654 yılında Araplar Rodos’u feth ettiler. Heykelden kalanları Suriyeli bir Yahudi’ye sattılar. Söylentiye göre bütün parçaları Suriye’ye 900 devenin sırtında taşınmıştır.

Ortadogu ülkelerinden sayilan ve Arap Yarimadasi'nin büyük bir kismini kaplayan Suudi Arabistan kuzeyden Ürdün ve Irak, kuzeydogudan Kuveyt, dogudan Basra Körfezi, Katar ve Birlesik Arap Emirlikleri, güneydogudan Umman, güneyden Yemen, batidan Kizildeniz'le çevrilidir. Dernek yöneticilerine varincaya kadar bütün yetkili kisiler tayinle belirlenir, hiçbir yerde seçim yoluna gidilmez. Yardim kuruluslari ve dernekleri kurma ve kurdurma yetkisi sadece devletin elindedir. Her ne amaçla olursa olsun toplanti ve tören için özel izin gerekir. Ekonomi:
Suudi Arabistan ekonomisi birinci derecede petrole dayanir. OPEC ülkeleri arasinda 1993'te gerçeklestirilen anlasmadan sonraki günlük petrol üretiminin 8 milyon varil olmasi kararlastirilmistir. Bu miktarla OPEC ülkeleri arasinda birinci sirayi almistir. Bu miktar OPEC ülkelerinin 24 milyon 520 bin varil olan günlük toplam petrol üretiminin üçte birine yakindir. Yilda ortalama 33 milyar m3 miktarinda da dogal gaz üretmektedir. Petrol ve dogal gazdan elde edilen gelirin gayri safi yurtiçi hasiladaki payi % 35'tir. Suudi Arabistan hacdan da önemli miktarda gelir saglamaktadir. Suud yönetimi hacilardan ayakbasti parasi, özel hizmet parasi gibi çesitli vergiler almaktadir. IntroductionThe United Arab Emirates was established in 1971 as a federation of seven emirates, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Ajman, Umm al-Qaiwain and Fujairah.
